Right next to Hodaigi Ski Resort and a 15-minute walk to Okutone ski field, Chalet La Neige offers ski-to-door access, rents ski equipment and sells ski passes. European-style meals are served, and each cosy room has an LCD TV and free wired internet.
Most rooms are Western-style, simply decorated and furnished with a sofa, while some offer a taste of traditional Japan with futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. All rooms have air conditioning, an electric kettle and mountain views. Bathrooms and toilets are shared.
The inn is about a 25-minute bus ride from JR Minakami Shinkansen Station (take a bus bound for Takaragawa-Onsen or Yunokoya Onsen). Takaragawa Onsen hot spring is a 10-minute drive away.
In the summer, a full range of outdoor sports can be arranged (for a fee) by contacting the property in advance, including canoeing, mountain biking, paragliding, horse riding and bungie jumping. In winter, skiing lessons are available. During any season, guests can relax by the fire in the spacious, high-ceilinged lounge.
An “American” breakfast is served (bread, salad, ham, egg or Spanish omelette, fruit, soup and coffee/tea). Dinner features dishes inspired by French and Italian cuisines, and is served at 18:30 sharp.
